Hello Mixtile team,
I have a Mixtile Cluster Box with Mixtile Blade 3 nodes (RK3588, 32 GB RAM), and I would like to run the recently released Proxmox VE 9.2 for ARM64 on this hardware.
Proxmox now officially supports ARM64. For non-officially supported ARM platforms, their main requirements are:
- UEFI boot
- ACPI hardware description
- ARMv8-A or newer
The RK3588 itself should therefore be capable of running Proxmox VE.
There is also an EDK2 implementation for RK3588 that includes support for Mixtile Blade 3. However, according to the EDK2 documentation, there may be limitations in ACPI mode with devices behind PCIe switches, specifically including the two Ethernet interfaces on the Mixtile Blade 3.
Could you please clarify:
- Does Mixtile currently provide, or plan to provide, UEFI/EDK2 firmware with ACPI support for Blade 3?
- Is there an ACPI implementation that correctly exposes the PCIe switch, both Ethernet controllers, NVMe, and other Blade 3 hardware to Linux?
- Have you tested Debian 13 or a recent mainline Linux kernel using UEFI + ACPI rather than Device Tree on Blade 3?
- Have you tested, or would you be interested in testing, Proxmox VE 9.2 ARM64 on Blade 3?
- If full ACPI support is not currently available, is it on your roadmap?
I have multiple Blade 3 nodes available and would be happy to help test this configuration.
If useful, I can also provide your engineers with remote IP-KVM access to a dedicated Blade 3, including remote ISO/virtual media access, so firmware and Proxmox/Debian images can be tested directly.
Getting Proxmox VE running reliably on Blade 3 would make the Mixtile Cluster Box a very interesting compact ARM virtualization cluster platform.
Thank you.
